Facebook was reportedly down for thousands of users across the world this morning with people complaining of a ‘weird’ homepage glitch.

Users on Facebook in the UK, USA and Australia all reported the strange error which has seen their homepages and feeds ‘flooded’ with posts left on celebrity fan pages, reported Glasgow Live.

Online outage tracker Down Detector is reporting complaints from all over the globe, with the majority of reports marking issues with both the Facebook News Feed and the app.

According to Down Detector’s stats, issues began here in the UK at around 7 am with 20% of users having reported issues with the app, 73% the feed and 7% the website in general.

Reports on Twitter are sharing that Facebook users are all experiencing the same issue: homepages are not showing posts from friends and pages that users follow and instead are seeing random posts on celebrity pages.

One Twitter user wrote: “What is going on with Facebook? I don’t want to see random people’s comments on pages I’ve liked. Make it stop!”

“Is anyone else’s Facebook broken or have I been hacked.” added another.

Someone else questioned: “Is anyone else’s Facebook News Feeds being flooded with posts to celebrity’s pages?”

Facebook has not confirmed any outage or issue with the website at the time of writing, and there is no evidence to suggest Facebook has been hacked.

Keen Facebook users have been using the bug to say hello to the wider Facebook community.

One shared on Adele’s Facebook page, “I don’t know but I want to try it too, hello!”

While another wrote: “Hey mama I’m famous.”
