A truck had its windscreen destroyed after a group of “youths” were seen throwing rocks at it from a bridge in Derbyshire. The incident in Bolsover has now led police officers to appeal to local parents to speak to their children about the incredibly dangerous behaviour.

It was at around 11.05am on Tuesday, August 9, when the kids were spotted on the bridge on Crags Road, throwing rocks at passing trucks going to and from Whitwell Quarry in Worksop. The rocks hit one of the trucks causing damage to the windscreen.

Officers from the Bolsover and Clowne Safer Neighbourhood Team posted added that the damage to the truck could have been a lot worse, never mind the potential injuries to those inside the vehicle.

The team said: “This is unacceptable behaviour and extremely dangerous. The site has CCTV and any offenders identified will be passed on to us.

“We ask parents from the surrounding villages to speak with the children about their conduct if going out alone. Although there is a public footpath through the site, it is still a working environment and poses potential dangers to unsupervised youths.”
