Live A52 updates as serious crash closes road

A serious accident has closed part of the A52 heading to Derby. Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to the incident at around 2pm today, Tuesday, September 13.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix is reporting that the A52 Brian Clough Way is closed westbound in Derbyshire between junction 25 of the M1 and the Borrowash turn as a result of an overturned van.

Traffic monitoring website National Highways has also advised motorists that the M1 motorway has been blocked near Castle Donington and Leicester Forest East services in what appears to be a separate incident.

In a tweet, National Highways said: “The #A52 is closed westbound between the #M1 at J25 (#Nottingham) and the #A5111 (#Derby) following a serious collision.

“All emergency services including the air ambulance are working at the scene. Please keep following the feed for further updates and diversion route details.”

Diversions are in place via the M1 southbound to junction 24A then the A50, A6 and the A5111 to rejoin the A52 at Derby.
